How much does it cost?
I wish I could give a clear cut answer, but the best answer is "It depends." I determine the cost by determining the amount of time it will take to me to create a particular model. The more time a model takes me to make, the more it will cost, so a small prop like a barrel might be relatively cheap, but a castle can get pretty expensive.
At the start of a project I will give a quote for each and every asset that I will create. This will be documented in a spreadsheet which breaks down the charges into number of production hours multiplied by hourly rate.

What is your hourly rate?
It can vary greatly. If I am doing something relatively small I may charge less than usual, but with large projects my hourly rate starts at $20.00 per hour. Depending on the complexity of the project the rate may be higher.

So do you charge more if it takes longer than expected to create a model?
Nope. The price I quote at the beginning of the project will be the price you pay. I won't spring unexpected costs on you. The initial quote process is extensive, and I will not start the project until I have a clear understanding of the expectations. That said, if there are changes made to the project by you there will be additional costs as this will result in a new quote.
Is there any way to reduce the cost?
Yes! One of the primary was to reduce cost is to provide concept materials such as drawings, blueprints, or even photos. These will reduce the amount of time it takes me to create each model since I don't have to fiddle around with the concept materials. Also, one other way to reduce cost is to reduce the quality. The simple fact is the more time I spend on a model, the higher quality it will be. But, you may not need a super duper quality barrel since you are just doing a top down perspective anyways. Maybe you don't need a particular prop modeled in Mudbox. When we go through the project details, I'll work to make sure you are getting the best bang for your buck.

What kind of quality can be expected?
Very high. Depending on the model I may create a high poly version in 3DS Max or I may model in Mudbox and then bake the normals on to a lower poly version. It all depends on what you are looking for, which engine you plan to use, and which shaders you will have access to. Check out the Gallery for some of my work.

Can the models be sold as part of a 3D marketplace?
Yes! If I create models, textures, or whatever as part of a contract for you they can be sold on one of the many 3D marketplaces online. It is important to note, though, that if you purchase one of my products like a model pack or texture which is available for purchase to anyone, those can not be resold unless part of a larger work.
What do previous customers have to say?
"Thanks for all your help and I hope we will have an opportunity to work with you again. Its all because of you we were able to save our face in delivering 3D game.

Can you give more technical details for those of us who understand the terminology?
Absolutely! I've made a whole page for that very reason.
