Moonlit Scene Lighting
Objective: This is a quick tutorial which walks trough how the lighting was achieved in the moonlit temple scene. This does not explain why things were done, just how to achieve the results. Similar methods can be applied to get similar results in any Unreal Engine 4 project.
You can check out a video of the scene Here The assets used to create the scene are sold on the Unreal Marketplace. Here |
1. Add a directional light to the scene. Here are the settings. This is the bright moonlight. Make sure to set it to Movable.
2. Add a point light right inside the door. (This is not necessary if doing a different scene and just adds detail) Make sure to set to Movable.
3. Add an exponential height fog. This gives us some fog and an eerie background. Set accordingly.
